Biography
Aiko, was born in 1973 in Japan and is a street art artist. She grew up in Tokyo and moved to New York during the 90s. It was there that her career started blooming under the best conditions: she started working for Takashi Murakami in her studio in Brooklyn. In parallel, she took some courses in "media studies" at the New School University. She then created the group FAILE with two other artists, with whom she repainted her pièces on the walls of New York and in other cities. In 2006, the artist came back to his personal practice under the name of Lady Aiko.
Through her pieces, the artist celebrates women in a combination of pop art, graffiti and traditional Japanese styles. His women are glamorous and free, full of life.
International renowned, Lady Aiko worked with Bansky on the project "Exit Through the Gift Shop" in 2010. Her mural works are present in several cities such as Miami and New York. Her work has regularly been presented in internationally renowned galleries and festivals. In parallel, she has worked for famous brands such as Louis Vuitton, Coach, The Standard and Warner Bros.
