Biography
French visual artist, Aurélie Dussossoy discovered her artistic sensitivity during her multiple residencies abroad. Eager to give used paper a second life, the artist from Hauts de France will create a story with materials that already have a history. It then transports us into a colorful, joyful and poetic universe.
Her technique is based on the marouflage of torn posters combined with the collage of paper elements, paint... The material she uses must tell her stories. Advertising posters collected in the streets are ideal. They have been damaged by the rain, torn by the wind... Many stories fill these papers... And these old magazines which smell of dust from the family attic...
These wallpapers torn off the walls of this old great-aunt's house in the north of France...
Each piece is an element of narration that will allow him to write a new chapter.
"Each piece of paper cut, torn off and then glued is a story that adds to another story to write a new chapter. Nothing is lost, everything is created..."
His first gallery exhibition was in 2016, at Dar-Al Anda Gallery, Amman, Jordan. From 2017 to 2019 the galleries of Dakar, Senegal, opened their doors to him, Gorée Regard sur Cours, Espace Agora, Galerie Arte. Then comes Europe with Brussels, Kortrijk and Paris.
