Biography
Béatrice Terra was born in Saint-Etienne. She lives and works in Montbrison, Loire. She studied advertising and worked for several years in agencies, but never abandoned her passion, and took painting courses in Saint-Etienne, in Serge Brossy's studio.
In 2002, she moved to the South of France and started teaching visual arts courses. She started exhibiting her work and in 2007 moved back to the Saint-Etienne region where she opened her own studio.
Béatrice Terra paints mostly men and their portraits. She doesn't want to be distracted by colors, so her palette is simple and she leaves out details that might blurr the lisibility of her paintings or drawings.
Men (in the masculine sense of the word) move her through their sensitivity. She paints men that come of of nowhere, she never has models. Béatrice Terra gets to know them little by little, as she paints them. She is only at the beginning of this subjects that fascinates her.
