Biography

He graduated from IED, Istituto Design Milano, specialising in product design. He then specialised in painting. His work stems from research into narrative and figurative representation.

His early works present a mix of local tradition, crime and grotesque narrative, with a strong cinematic influence.

In Bruno Marrapodi's most recent work, there is a radical synthesis of descriptive elements. Certain iconographic elements, such as castles and pigs, become central axes of the paintings, archetypes of an instinctive, fairy-tale world. The works now appear primitive, delicate and wild at the same time.

"I paint the same way I talk: I tell stories, I use anecdotes and symbolic figures, I fill the story with colours and details, with a bit of irony. The images that emerge from my painting define my existence, but do not describe it. The world is a hostile place, so I look at it from the outside: my painting is an observation, a way of responding to the hostility of the world without entering into it".
