Luo Li Rong, born in 1980 in Hunan province, China, is an internationally renowned sculptor. At the age of 18, she entered the Changsha Academy of Arts, where she quickly developed her artistic skills. At the age of 20, she was admitted to the prestigious Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), where she specialised in ceramics and sculpture under the tutelage of eminent teachers such as Sun Jia Guo and Lu Pin Chang. She graduated with honours in 2005.
During her studies, Luo Li Rong took part in several public sculpture projects, including installations for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, which can be seen in Da Lian Park. Her graduation project was widely acclaimed, laying the foundations for her promising career.
For several years, Luo Li Rong has lived in Europe, mainly in Belgium, where she has rapidly gained recognition from international galleries and collectors since 2014. Her works, steeped in contemporary Chinese culture, also offer a subtle and relevant interpretation of Western art.
Luo Li Rong excels in figurative sculpture, drawing inspiration from the great European masters of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Her sculptures, mainly in bronze, like Auguste Rodin, are characterised by extreme finesse of modelling and great sensuality. The fluid drapery and movements captured in her works seem to be captured in the moment, revealing a dimension of human eternity. The women she depicts, though realistic, often seem to come from a higher world, adding a touch of mysticism to her creations.
