Edition of 15 copies - all formats combined | 6 in XS, 5 in S, 3 in M and a unique print in L
A collection that merges various themes revisiting the great masters or simply drawing inspiration from classical painting. From Ingres' odalisque declined in different aspects to the inspirations of Vermeer, Botticelli, Bernini, Canova, and many other references from the history of art... a reinterpretation of mythology, of the nude of yesterday and today, all between offbeat humor and simple representation of beauty. No particular message here, but rather an invitation to the pleasure of the eyes and the sweetness of the familiarity of universally known masterpieces. A different perspective that speaks to everyone, offering a new vision of the works appreciated by all.
Mathilde OscarMathilde Oscar, born in Paris in 1980 and currently residing in Cannes, is a versatile artist whose career combines painting, art history, graphic design and photography to create a unique visual language.
Starting with painting, she delved deeply into creativity and art history, drawing lessons from the classical masters. Moving on to graphic design, she mastered forms and compositions, laying the foundation for her subsequent exploration of photography in 2013.
His photographs exude a painterly quality, often featuring elaborately crafted sets and costumes, blending classical painting with modern photography and pop culture. His portraits defy convention, infused with humor and subtle nods to art history, creating timeless and iconic images.
In essence, Mathilde Oscar breaks artistic barriers, merging past and present to create a captivating artistic universe.
This remarkable work of art features an ethereally beautiful young woman, centered in the frame, wearing a diaphanous ivory gown, adorned with delicate, sheer lace that accentuates both her grace and purity. Her angelic appearance is enhanced by an imposing rosary wrapped around her delicate hands, all enhanced with large brown wooden beads and red roses likely symbolizing passion and sacrifice. Her face expresses a gentle melancholy mixed with serene contemplation, creating a moving contrast to the religious elements she wears. The composition is masterfully crowned by a golden nimbus, adorned with resplendent rays like a sun, giving the figure a sacred and almost divine dimension. The judicious use of light creates a refined chiaroscuro that highlights the rich textures and minute details of the gown and rosary. The background is deliberately sober, sinking into dark brown tones, allowing the central figure to stand out with a striking intensity. This art is a breathtaking alliance of mysticism and beauty, merging religious elements with a contemporary aesthetic. It invites a deep reflection on spirituality, devotion and beauty immortalized through a masterful artistic prism.

This seller rewards your purchases of multiple artworks
After studying Art History and years of painting practice, it is natural that Mathilde Oscar's work is much more pictorial than photographic.
Mathilde Oscar's intention is not to capture the moment, on the contrary she makes it. Mathilde Oscar photography creates an image of any room and imagines a new story in each series. She is a storyteller, that is to say that her specialty is to tell stories. From this point of view, she differs from the photo of reporting by leaving little room for chance, because everything is studied upstream, every detail counts.
To succeed in getting a whole imaginary world out of her mind, her universe, Mathilde Oscar is obliged to completely realize all the elements which compose it: Accessories, costumes, decorations, created on measure and "handmade" for each photograph.
A world made, inspired by all times and at the same time out of time and all mediums. Escape the rules while following them, fill no box while registering, this is Mathilde Oscar's vocation.
Mathilde Oscar photography is an emblematic style of portraiture.
