From Ingres' odalisque declined in different aspects to the inspirations of Vermeer, Botticelli, Bernini, Canova, and many other references from the history of art... a reinterpretation of mythology, of the nude of yesterday and today, all between offbeat humor and simple representation of beauty. No particular message here, but rather an invitation to the pleasure of the eyes and the sweetness of the familiarity of universally known masterpieces. Mathilde OscarMathilde Oscar, born in Paris in 1980 and currently residing in Cannes, is a versatile artist whose career combines painting, art history, graphic design and photography to create a unique visual language.
Starting with painting, she delved deeply into creativity and art history, drawing lessons from the classical masters. Moving on to graphic design, she mastered forms and compositions, laying the foundation for her subsequent exploration of photography in 2013.
His photographs exude a painterly quality, often featuring elaborately crafted sets and costumes, blending classical painting with modern photography and pop culture. His portraits defy convention, infused with humor and subtle nods to art history, creating timeless and iconic images.

After studying Art History and years of painting practice, it is natural that Mathilde Oscar's work is much more pictorial than photographic.
Mathilde Oscar's intention is not to capture the moment, on the contrary she makes it. Mathilde Oscar photography creates an image of any room and imagines a new story in each series. She is a storyteller, that is to say that her specialty is to tell stories. From this point of view, she differs from the photo of reporting by leaving little room for chance, because everything is studied upstream, every detail counts.
To succeed in getting a whole imaginary world out of her mind, her universe, Mathilde Oscar is obliged to completely realize all the elements which compose it: Accessories, costumes, decorations, created on measure and "handmade" for each photograph.
