Born in Lyon in 1987, Mathilde Polidori is a French artist and muralist currently based in Paris.
Through her oil paintings and monumental murals, she delves into and dissects the emotional and sensual nuances of the faces that surround her. Her work unfolds in exploratory series centered around femininity, masculinity, gazes, and otherness.
Faces flirt with abstraction in an intimate treatment, reminiscent of the closeness sought by Georgia O'Keeffe in her sumptuous and striking floral paintings—an inspiration frequently acknowledged by the artist.
She paints faces that think, dream, or love, serving as an ode to the multiple lives of the soul.
Mathilde Polidori's gaze subjects the faces around her to a close-up vision. This approach to close-ups emerges through observation, drawing, and constant photography of the people around her, coming to life through the intensification of vibrant colors and a play of shadows and lights bordering on abstraction.
In 2020, she was awarded the 1st prize by the M le Monde jury for the cover of issue #500. In 2022, she exhibited in New York during the AAF and collaborated with the Parisian brand of ethical furniture, Tip Toe, as well as the Editions Philippe Rey. In 2023, after being part of Inez and Vinoodh's curation "The Kiss," she caught the attention of Puma and Rob Cristofaro for the Paris edition of their artistic guide, Who's Who, and collaborated with the mineral water brand Perrier.
In November 2023, she presented her first solo exhibition, "Les âmes bleues," in Paris.
In 2024, following another solo exhibition in Paris during Art Paris | April 3-7, the Musée Edgar Mélik de Cabriès will dedicate a major solo exhibition to her from April 14 to June 9.
