The interplay of light and shadow, of the conscious and the unconscious, is the basis of the encounter around a work of art. Welcome to my world of metal lace.
Biography
Philippe Buil, born in Marseille in 1964, moved to Saint-Étienne at the age of five. Introduced to art at an early age by his parents, he developed a passion for sculpture, which he combined with his experience in the metal industry. This unique blend of skills enables him to create metal works of remarkable lightness and delicacy, akin to lace.
Buil began by working in steel, before turning to bronze, which he masters in his own workshop. He also incorporates other materials such as aluminum, leather and precious woods, enriching his creations. His distinctive style, combining the hardness of metals with Greco-Roman forms, gives rise to what he calls "metallic haute-couture".
Since his first exhibitions in 2012, Philippe Buil has rapidly gained recognition, exhibiting his work in Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and the United States. In 2015, he introduced 24-carat gold leaf to his bronze sculptures, giving them a unique and prestigious sheen. Each of his pieces is unique, captivating collectors and art lovers the world over.
Philippe Buil continues to innovate and explore new techniques, always faithful to his commitment to do everything himself, from design to manufacture. His inexhaustible creativity and unique technical approach have made him a key artist on the contemporary scene, with a marked presence in galleries and international exhibitions.
