Plaf has no desire to lock himself into an artistic box. For him, freedom is an art of living. A hard worker in plaster following his sculpture course at the École des Beaux-Arts in Orléans, then a sculptor on thermo-formed glass in a not-so-distant past, he devotes himself today solely to photography and bronze sculpture. In both disciplines, we find an immoderate taste for construction, a concern for details which evoke images, a sensation, emotions, in short everything which gives his work its poetry. On the photography side, his current research combines drawing/painting on paper, light and computers: he draws, paints, then photographs all or parts of the work thus produced which he uses on the computer. What follows are new digitally arranged images, coming from his imagination - interior landscapes, improbable beings - which will be the finished work. So he recognizes himself in what Pierre Soulages said: “It's what I find that tells me what I'm looking for." Full of extremely delicate details, the bronze sculptures are cast from wax modeling. This ancestral lost wax technique makes them all unique pieces. There we find an entire surreal universe, a fantastic bestiary, chimerical beings that one might believe to be shamanic, and often imbued with eroticism.
Last singularity, the artist signs Plaf, acronym of his first and last name: Pierre Louis Antoine Faure.
