Biography
Reda Amalou is a French architect and designer. But he is above all a creator of experiences.
More than 20 years ago, he founded the architecture firm AW2 driven by the desire to take over space and make it a place of emotions. It is with the same obviousness that the design imposed itself. Instead of compartmentalizing disciplines, Reda Amalou unites their approach. It is always about creating an impact, animating the spirit by addressing the eye, by mobilizing the senses. In 2013, the opening of his own house REDA AMALOU DESIGN officially extends his proposals by opening up to furniture and objects.
Each of his creations carries a story. Whether it's a childhood memory in Algeria, the London tumult of his studies or the effervescence of his travels, Reda Amalou always has his eyes on the lookout for a discovery. He collects bursts of astonishment which will reflect in his work. Fragments of life, a tribute to craftsmanship and multiculturalism, which impose themselves in interiors with disconcerting fluidity.
Its collections are a perfect echo of the architectural work of Reda Amalou. Inspired by the aesthetics of the 20th century, he designs each piece with materials in mind, which he likes to be textured, rich, alive. He is particularly fond of walnut essence but also bronze, leather, glass, eggshell, lacquer, etc., each variation dialogues with elegance. The pieces are grandiose but their balance makes them intimate, as if already familiar.
Beyond the main collection, some exceptional pieces are made with craftsmen. They are brought together in the Galerie Collection, and are produced in unique pieces or in limited editions of eight copies.
